Obituary

Paul "Dean" Motter, 77, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014 at home with his loving family by his side. Born August 15, 1937 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Ruth R. (Gensler) Motter.


From 1954 to 1996 he was employed by Fickes' Silos and in 1996 he and his brother purchased the business and it became known as Motter's Silos. He enjoyed farming and attending horse shows and he raised Quarter Horses for many years. He was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Minnequa Social Club in Shippensburg. He was a hard-working man but enjoyed spending time with his family.


On August 7, 1985 in Hagerstown, MD, he wed Georgia (Baer) Motter, who survives along with five daughters, Wanda (Robert) Rose, Angie Motter, Kim (John) Ayers, Stacey (Chad) Wiser and Kylee (Tim Wheeler) Motter; three sons, Donny (Chele Yana) Jumper, Jr., Chad (Brett) Brough and Casey (Mandi) Motter; 15 grandchildren and 2 on the way; 4 great grandchildren; one great, great-grandson; two brothers, Wayne (Tonya) Motter and Galen Motter; his stepmother, Joan Motter; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Vincent Motter, in 2003, and a sister, Patsy Beittel.


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Donald Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
