Paul R. Baer Sr., 93, of Carlisle died on Sunday, April 12, 2026. He was born on October 4, 1932, in Shermans Dale and was a son of the late Chester C. Baer and Elen M. (Sheriff) Baer. Paul was married to the late Virginia C. (Butler) Baer who passed away on October 2, 1993. Also preceding him in death were brothers, Glenn Baer and Luther Baer, both of Shermans Dale, and one sister Jennie Buchanon of York.
Paul served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge, Paul worked for the Book of the Month Club in Mechanicsburg for five years and retired from AMP Inc. after 34 years of service where he was an electrician. Paul was of Protestant faith and had attended the Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and race cars including Nascar.
He is survived by four sons, Paul R. Baer, Jr. of Shermans Dale, Robert (Dena) C. Baer of Shippensburg, Gary L. Baer of Dallas, TX and Carl A. Baer of New Bloomfield, one brother, Franklin Baer of Shermans Dale, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. Rev. Jimmy Kincaid will officiate. Burial with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in LeTort Cemetery, Carlisle.
