Patricia F. Keller, 85, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home. She was born on March 17, 1939, in Carlisle and was a daughter of the late David B. Fehl and Ruth V. (Tritt) Fehl. She was married to the late John D. Keller who died November 8, 1995.
Patricia graduated from Big Spring High School in 1956, Shippensburg University in 1961, and completed graduate level work at Kutztown University and Indiana University of Pennsylvania in elementary and art education. From 1961-1972 she served as an elementary and art teacher and then supervisor of elementary art education in the Carlisle Area School District. A gifted educator, in the 1970s and 80s she was a substitute teacher at Big Spring and Carlisle and a teaching aide at Cumberland Valley. In the 1990s she started educating the public as a docent at the Cumberland County Historical Society, a position she held until 2017. She was a long-time member of First Lutheran Church, Carlisle, serving on the Altar Guild, the Fine Arts Committee, and the Communion Preparation Committee. In her final years she attended Faith Chapel of Carlisle with her son and daughter-in-law.
Patricia was a lover of nature and history, an amateur artist, and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She is survived by her son Dr. Christian Keller of Carlisle and his wife Kelley; sister Beverly and brother-in-law R. Tom Phillips of Malvern, PA; beloved niece Natalie Phillips Kunz of California and beloved nephew Bradley Phillips of New York; several nieces and nephews by marriage; and eleven grand-nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens with Pastor Michael Mayer officiating.
