Parker E. Dunbar, 92, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at UPMC Carlisle. He was born on February 18, 1931, in Bloserville and was the son of the late John A. and Esther R. (Weigle) Dunbar.
Parker served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He retired in 1986 after 33 years with AMP Inc. where he was a shop supervisor at the Carlisle facility. Parker was a member of Carlisle First Church of God, AARP and the former Friendship Fire Co., Carlisle.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years Shirley M. (Richcreek) Dunbar, three daughters, Kathy J. (husband Dan) Bateson of Fayetteville, Karen K. (husband Joseph) Gaskin of Carlisle and Kristene L. (husband Timothy) Peters of Carlisle, two sisters, Millie Martin of Carlisle and Mary Billman of Carlisle, four grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Parker was preceded in death by three brothers, John, William and James Dunbar and one sister Shirley Cornman.
A viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. Pastor Michael Poe will officiate. Burial will be in McClure's Gap Church of God Cemetery, Newville with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard.
