Opal J. Minich, 74, of Carlisle, beloved wife and mother, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010, in Carlisle Regional Medical Center. She was born on Friday, June 26, 1936, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late John and Varie (Mountz) Gayman.

Opal was a member of Big Spring Heights Church of God in Newville. She was a loving homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her home and family. Opal also enjoyed playing the piano and organ, gospel music, church activities and the little things in life. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Richard B. Minich, a daughter, Sharon L. (and her husband, Roger) Fry of Camp Hill, a son, Rickey L. (and his wife, Jody Sharek) Minich of Carlisle, five sisters; Lois Wickard of Carlisle, Faye Gushanas of Harrisburg, Gladys Stitzel of Carlisle, Gail King of Hagerstown and Lisa Hollenbaugh of Newville, three grandchildren; Ashley Fry, Jaime Fry and Kelsi Minich and many nieces and nephews. Opal was preceded in death by one son, David B. Minich.

Memorial services to celebrate Opal's life will beheldat 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2010, in the Big Spring Heights Church of God,10 Mt. Rock Rd., Newville, with Pastors Jesse Duncan and Tim Redmond officiating. Private burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of the services at the church and immediately following the services in the church social hall for a time of fellowship.
