Neil LaMar Douglas, 83, of Carlisle, died on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Harrisburg Hospital. He was born on March 22, 1931, in Ingo West Virginia, a son of the late Jesse R. and Mabel (Samples) Douglas.

LaMar graduated from Hopewell Township High School in 1949 and received his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1959. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. Neil retired after 34 years of service as an Engineer in Warminster, PA. Neil enjoyed many activities including: table tennis, softball, coaching and refereeing his children's sporting activities, coin and stamp collecting, gardening, bowling, square dancing, roller skating & most important of all, taking care of his family. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Carlisle.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Margaret E. (Matthews) Douglas, three daughters; Judith A. Howell of Murrieta, CA, Barbara E. (husband, Daud) Khan of Neosho, MO and Carolyn S. Douglas of North Wales, PA, two sons; Paul E. (wife, Melanie) Douglas of Downingtown and Andrew L. (wife, Erica) Douglas of Warrington, PA, two sisters; LaVern Pence and Katie Miller, both of Aliquippa, PA, his beloved grandchildren; Jamila, David, Laila, Megan, Abigail, Benjamin and Amber and many nieces and nephews. Neil was predeceased by three brothers; Dwain, Dale and Glenn Douglas and one sister, Leta Rhines.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 1, 2014, in the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 647 Forge Rd, Carlisle, with Rev. Daniel Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at the Springville Cemetery in Boiling Springs with Military Honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard. A viewing will be held on Friday evening at the church from 6 - 8:00 pm and on Saturday at the church from 10 am until time of the services. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Children's Home or Otterbein United Methodist Church.
