Melvin "Mel" Lee Seibert Sr., 75, of Newville, passed away on Tuesday September 23, 2025, at home with his loving wife, Maxine (Stitt) Seibert of 56 years by his side. He was born on September 28, 1949, in Carlisle to the late Roy C. Seibert Sr. and Geraldine (Brownawell) Seibert.
Mel attended Big Spring High School. After high school, Mel held many jobs over the years, he worked at the former Carlisle Tire & Rubber, both Cooke and Penn Townships, he was a truck driver for Diller's, Nell's Shurfine Markets in Carlisle and most recently you would see him at his produce stand that he and his wife operated for many years. First it was near the Cumberland drive-in and later it moved near the subway underpass on Newville Rd. in Carlisle. Even after he retired, he kept busy, working on tractors and lawnmowers for friends and family. He held past memberships at the White Circle Club, Eagles in Carlisle, VFW and American legion both in Newville. Mel enjoyed hunting, camping, butchering, attending auctions, working on lawnmowers and tractors and most of all, Mel enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Everywhere Mel went he always ran into someone he knew and he could talk for hours.
In addition to his wife, Mel is survived by his son Melvin Seibert Jr. of Newville, daughter Tammy (husband Shawn) Brickner of Carlisle, a sister Margaret (husband Walt) Kelly of Newville, a brother Steve Seibert of Newville, four grandchildren, Kevin Blessing (wife Lora), Matthew Seibert (wife Ashley), Cody Seibert (wife Megan), Zach Seibert (wife Taylor), nine great grandchildren, Grayson, Kasyn, Aidyn, Jayce, Aleah, Kane, Carter, Lacey & Callie and many nieces and nephews and his beloved canine "Daisy". Mel was preceded in death by three brothers, twins Larry and Garry Seibert, and Roy C. Seibert Jr., and one sister Pauline Picknally.
A viewing will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday September 29, 2025, with a funeral service starting at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. The burial will follow at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens in Carlisle. www.EwingBrothers.com
