Mary Jo Tuckey, 56, formerly of Carlisle, died on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Green Ridge Village, Newville. She was born June 9, 1957, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Keller and Elizabeth (Hershey) Detwiler.

Mary Jo most recently had worked at the Family Dollar Store in New Oxford. She formerly worked for Jacoby Transportation in Biglerville, where she was a van driver for disabled children.

She is survived by one son, Jason L. Shenk (wife, Carla) of Newville, three brothers; Charles Hershey (wife, Phyllis) of Bendersville, Gary Detwiler of Newville and Elwood Detwiler (wife, Paula) of Carlisle, four sisters; Betty Lebo of Carlisle, Gloria May (husband, Charlie) of Mt. Holly Springs, Nancy Paxton (husband, Mike) of Newville and Shirley Bowers (husband, Butch) of Carlisle, two granddaughters; Kayla and Ashley Shenk, both of Newville, one great-granddaughter, Mya Elizabeth Sherman of Newille and several nieces and nephews. Mary Jo was preceded in death by two brothers; Richard Hershey and Donald Detwiler.

Services and burial will be private. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.
