Obituary

On June 18th, 2025, Mary Kutulakis passed away peacefully in her sleep at Thornwald Home. Mary was born on October 19th, 1936, to the late Clarence Joseph Daly and Vada Elizabeth (Cutshall) Daly in Titusville, PA. The family then moved to Meadville, PA. where she and her sister the late Ellen Gallagher would grow up not only as sisters, but best friends.

Mary joined the Meadville area marching band where she was a majorette, after graduating from Meadville area high school, she went on to earn a degree at Grove City College. Where she met her husband, the late Peter Kutulakis. Mary and Pete would move to Carlisle to start a family. They would raise a son, the late Jason Kutulakis. She raised a son with her same desire to help others. With him become one of Pennsylvania's top child advocate lawyers. While on the farm Mary would continue her love of animals raising ducks, donkeys, horses, and Labradors. The Labradors, which she bred and raised, would lead here into her lifelong love for dogs. Where she would go on to raise and show Schipperkes' and Australian Shepherds. Over the years she won many awards for breed excellence with her dogs.

She had a wonderful ability to bring people together in things she loved doing, either organizing horse shows, or dog events with the Chambersburg Kennel Club. This led her to start teaching obedience classes to help others grow the relationship between owners and their pets into a life of harmony. With this desire, 40 years ago, she started Fieldwood Dog Training. the early years of her dream started out in the basements of veterinarians' offices and in the hallways of the Carlisle East Point Mall. She grew this into a wonderful business with many instructors and multiple classes. From puppy kindergarten to advanced agility.

Through this she had reached her dream of touching thousands of hearts whether it be on two feet or four paws. To say the least she was an active person. She would start groups just to do more with her dogs and many friends she found through her ownership of Fieldwood Dog Training. She would start groups that involved owners and their dogs such as the Wag Time Band, Fieldwood Drill team and dancing dog group Steppin' Woofs. She and her friends would do this to build their bond with their own dogs through obedience and fun activities. This was not enough for Mary. She would want to take the groups to perform at nursing homes and local events all around the local area. Through this a lot of Carlisle and surrounding area have been entertained by Mary, her friends and their dogs caring hearts. She would later retire from dog training and sell Feildwood dog training, where it is still thriving today helping dogs and owners' bonds.

Mary had other loves. She enjoyed many of them with Friends, family and her sister the late Ellen Gallagher. She loved bingo, traveling to the beach, and singing. She had a wonderful voice and a quick wit! Just to make you smile, which she loved more than anything! She was known to break out into a beautiful melody with just you saying a few words. Mary and her sister loved singing and music together. They sang with the Sweet Adelines and later where part of the Freedom Valley Chorus for many years. Where she also loved going to entertain the public.

Mary would retire to Sarah Todd, where she and her beloved poodle, Zoe which she rescued from Furry friends, would spend days relaxing and going for car rides to go get ice cream (Mary's true love), and going out to eat with her many friends.

Mary will be missed by all and her family! She is survived by niece Pamela Paterson (husband Dana) of Annapolis, MD., nephew Christopher Gallagher (wife Lori) of Townville, PA and nephew Sean Gallagher (wife Christine) Of Shippensburg and niece In-law Margie Gallagher. Mary was preceded in death by sister Ellen Gallagher, husband Peter Kutulakis, son Jason Kutulakis, nephew Brian Gallagher.

Mary did not want services. Instead, she held an 80th birthday celebration of life with family and friends. So, she could remember laughing, singing and making people feel loved, which she loved doing.
