Mary Jo Garrety McGowan, 78, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Penn State Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill.  She was born on October 30, 1943, in York and was a daughter of the late Angelo Card and Frances (Miceli) Card.

Mary Jo graduated in 1961 from York Catholic High School, earned her bachelor's degree from Penn State University in Health Care Administration and her master's degree in Social Work from the Mary Wood University in Scranton with a certificate in Gerontology.  Mary Jo retired from Holy Spirit Hospital where she worked as a licensed therapist.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years Thomas B. McGowan, one son David F. (wife Wendy) Garrety, Jr., three stepsons, Thomas McGowan, Todd (wife Danita) McGowan of Drystown and Timothy McGowan of Mt. Holly Springs, one brother Raymond Card of York, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one daughter Frances Garrety, one brother Leonard Card and one stepson Tedd McGowan.
