Obituary

Mary Regina (Klunk) Dolheimer from Chapel Pointe in Carlisle passed away peacefully with her family by her side from Parkinson's Disease on Friday, April 15, 2022.  She was born on June 24, 1946, in York and was the only child to the late Joseph B. and Mary C. (Bankert) Klunk.

She grew up on Maple Avenue in Hanover, PA.  Some of Mary's favorite childhood memories are of her neighbor Sister Jackie walking her to school.  A strong and devote Catholic, Mary graduated from Delone Catholic High School in 1964. After high school, she started at Double Day book printing foundry.  In 1968, she graduated from Computer Programming Institute of York.  Mary was a strong homemaker and gifted cross stitcher and seamstress.  In the summer months, Mary enjoyed her vegetable garden and flower beds.

Mary was introduced to George Leo Dolheimer, Jr in the spring of 1968 by mutual friends, and they were married on October 5, 1968, at Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Hanover.  They enjoyed 53 years of marital bliss in the Edgegrove neighborhood of Hanover.  In addition to being survived by her beloved husband George, Mary was blessed with two sons, Joseph George (wife Denise) Dolheimer and Mark Leo (wife Angela) Dolheimer and six grandchildren, Thomas, Regina, EJ, Jamie, David, and Amanda Mae.

After George retired, Mary and George served as health care ministers for Sacred Heart.  They would visit with home-bound parish members, spending time with them, sharing their gifts, and the prayers to our Lord.  When their health started failing Mary and George sold their family home and moved into an Independent Living apartment at Chapel Pointe.  Despite the pandemic, Mary was able to make friends at her new home.  She also joined Saint Patrick's Catholic Church Parish.

A viewing will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2022, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 30 Basilica Drive, Hanover, PA 17331 with Father Dwight Schlaline as the officiant.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  A reception will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus in McSherrystown.  Flowers and/or memorial donations may be sent to the church.  Visit www.EwingBrothers.com to send condolences.
