Obituary

Marvin L. Yeager, 92, of Carlisle, died Sunday, August 15, 2010, at Thornwald Home in Carlisle. He was born on Sunday, December 16, 1917, in Xenia, OH, a son of the late Ami and Lena (Walker) Yeager. He was married to the late Marie B. (Ezzo) Yeager, who died Oct. 20, 1997.

Marvin was an Army Air Force veteran of WWII. He graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. Marvin retired after 20 years of service as an engineering manager at AMP, Inc. Advanced Development Laboratory, Carlisle. He developed fourteen patented products while employed with AMP. One of his connector products that he developed is still in world-wide use today. He also held a Professional Engineering certificate. He was formerly employed with Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, OH. Marvin formerly attended Allison United Methodist Church, Carlisle and was a former member of the Carlisle Kiwanis Club. He was passionate about playing golf and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He is survived by one son, David M. (and his wife, Susan) Yeager of Boca Raton, FL, two daughters; Jan Y. (and her husband, Byron) Firestone of Mechanicsburg and Joan Y. Boudreau-Alexander (and her husband, Richard Alexander) of Buford, GA, six grandchildren; Zachary Yeager, Natalie Yeager, Katlyn Firestone, Zachary Firestone, Melissa Ribeiro and Jennifer Penske and five great-grandchildren. Marvin was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Yeager and a sister, Ivadelle Blackmore.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2010, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Jennifer McKenna officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of the services. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Assoc. of PA, 3001 Old Gettysburg Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
