Obituary

Marvin Leroy Ridley, 64, of Newville, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at his home. He was born on Monday, May 20, 1946, in Glen Rock, a son of the late William and Myrtle (Matthews) Ridley.

Marvin graduated from Susquehannock High School in Glen Rock, the International Union of Operating Engineers trade school and served in the U. S. Army. Marvin was a heavy equipment operator until 1982 with the International Union of Operating Engineers-Local 542. He retired in 1995 from Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot after 12 years of service. Marvin then owned and operated a landscaping business from 1995 through 2003. He then worked for the American Mint until 2004.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 24 years, Patricia Ridley, daughter, Nicole Autry, a step-son, Don White, a step-daughter, Sara White, seven brothers; William, Lawrence, Curvin, Mervin, Charles and Connie Ridley and Michael Howard, three sisters; Viola Wilson, Doris Lenig and Helen Way, ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Marvin was preceded in death by brothers; Danny Ridley and Russell Stiffler and sisters; Mary Whipperman and Loretta Thomas.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 13, 2011, at the Lewisberry United Methodist Church, 309 Market St., Lewisberry. Pastor Janie Harrison will officiate. A gathering for fellowship will be held immediately following the service at the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
