Obituary

Mark L. Slothower, 55, of Carlisle, loving son and brother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2012, at ManorCare Health Services, Carlisle. He was born on Monday, July 30, 1956, in Carlisle, the son of Clark L. and Dorothy M. (Chronister) Slothower of Carlisle.

Mark graduated in 1974 from Bible Baptist School in Shiremanstown and had worked for 20 years at the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot, where he was a work-leader. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Mark loved to read and was a history buff. He also enjoyed working part-time at Taylor's Trading Post in Adams County, where he worked on guns and assisted at gun shows. He was of Protestant faith.

In addition to his loving parents, he is survived by two sisters; Doris M. (and her husband, Vincent) Mitchell and Marcella G. (and her husband, Leroy) Hippensteel, both of Mechanicsburg, two nieces; Shannon M. Tanberg and Brittney M. Hippensteel, two step-nieces; Courtnay and Corinne Mitchell and one great-niece, Grace M. Tanberg.

Private funeral services will be held in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Tim Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA, Hummingbird Division, 17 E. High St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
