Marie E. Leary, 91, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle. She was born on Saturday, March 15, 1919, in Linwood, a daughter of the late Winifred (Cranston) Kohr and the widow of William J. Leary, who died in 1981.

Marie was a 1936 graduate of Immaculate Heart Commercial in Chester. She was a homemaker and a former housekeeper at the Resurrection Church Rectory in Chester. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle, the Sodality at Resurrection Church, Salvation Army Senior Center, Carlisle and a past member of the Girl Scout Leader Group.

She is survived by daughters; Marie E. (and her husband, Larry) Carey of Carlisle, Carole A. (and her husband, William) Burns of Cedar Rapids, IA, Marguerite W. (and her husband, Joseph) Kupprion of Wallingford and Anne M. (and her husband, Steven) Alberts of Grovetown, GA, sister, Winifred Kohr McQuilkin of Harrisburg, 11 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson and many nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by brother, Thomas Kohr, her uncle and aunt; Murtha and Ellen Leary, who raised Marie after her mother died at an early age and by her three cousins who were raised with Marie; Eileen Leary Cummings, Mildred Leary Folmsbee and Margaret "Peg" Leary Baldwin.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Dr., Carlisle. Rev. William C. Forrey will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until time of the services at the church. Burial will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2011, in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield. Inlieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 98 S. Enola Dr., Enola, PA 17025-1000. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.
