Marie Stets Herman, 91, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at home.  She was born on May 7, 1934, in Olyphant and was a daughter of the late Frank Stets and Julia (Solak) Stets.  Marie was the widow of George A. Herman, Sr., who passed away on Oct. 25, 1998.

Marie graduated from Carlisle High School in 1952 and earned her Elementary School Teaching degree from Shippensburg University.  She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle and St. Ann Byzantine Catholic Church, Harrisburg.  Marie worked as an Assistant Director at The Carlisle Day Care and as a cook at the former Locker Room Bar & Grill in Carlisle.  She was a former Girl Scouts Leader and Organizer and served on the Women's Council and as a Sacristan at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

She is survived by three children, George A. (wife Diane) Herman, Jr. of Churchtown, Susan M. Lightner of Carlisle and Robert M. Herman of Carlisle, five grandchildren, Daniel Lightner and Janelle Coyne, Nathan Herman, Nicholas Herman and Kira Steepe, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one son-in-law Daniel B. Lighter and 10 siblings.
