Marie L. Behrens, 96, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, at home with family by her side. She was born on April 5, 1926, in Tongeren, Belgium and was a daughter of the late Joseph Mommen and Pauline (Joris) Mommen and was the widow of William R. Behrens who died September 12, 2001.
Marie enjoyed being a loving homemaker and taking care of her family. She was a member of the Great Hope Baptist Church, Carlisle, where she was a choir member for 43 years and taught Sunday School kindergarten and first grade for many years.
She is survived by three daughters, Patty (Glenn) Garver of Mechanicsburg, Wanda (Larry) Jones of Carlisle and Nancy (Steven) Wolf of Carlisle, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in the United States and Belgium. She was preceded in death by two sons, Rev. Dr. William H. Behrens and David L. Behrens, one brother Henry Mommen, three sisters, Hubertine, Maria and Lily and one grandson Michael Crozier.
A viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Dale Barrick as the officiant. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Memorial contributions may be made to the Teen Fund at the church, 110 Fern Ave., Carlisle, PA 17013. www.EwingBrothers.com.
