Obituary

Margaret K. "Peg" Gardner, 80, of Shippensburg, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle. She was born on May 11, 1934, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late George R. and Mary (Failor) Morris.

Peg retired from the Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle, after more than 10 years of service. She also had waitressed at several area restaurants. Peg attended Shippensburg Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by her loving and devoted companion of 27 years, Harry L. Helm of Shippensburg, four daughters; Pam (husband, Dan) Mellott, Newville, Tammie (husband, Gary) Myers of Boiling Springs, Star (husband, Darryl) Logan of Carlisle and Sandy (husband, John) Rhoads, of Newville, two sons; Dave (wife, Sue) Hockensmith and Denny (wife, Angie) Hockensmith, both of Newville, one brother, Lawrence Morris of Carlisle, one sister, Nancy Bowers of Carlisle, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Peg was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

A viewing will be begin at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover Str., Carlisle, with Pastor Stevan P. Sheets officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
