Madalyn K. Cornman, 88, of Newville, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg. She was born on June 5, 1928 in Newville, and was a daughter of the late Elmer E. and S. Rachael (Spangler) Kough. She was the widow of Harold L. Cornman, who passed away on Jan. 10, 2004.
Madalyn graduated from the Newville High School in 1946 and received a secretarial degree from the Central PA Business School. She was a loving homemaker and a member of the South Fairview First Church of God, Newville. Madalyn was a Girl Scout Leader for many years in the Centerville area. She was a former volunteer and auxiliary member at Green Ridge Village, Newville. She served on the Neighbors in Christ board for many years and was a volunteer at the Big Spring Food Bank.
She is survived by one son, William H. (wife, Tina) Cornman and one daughter, Catherine J. Cornman, both of Newville, four sisters; Addessa Snyder, Doris Snyder, Ruth Wiser, all of Newville and Raeann Brougher of Carlisle, two grandsons; Jason (wife, Sarah) Cornman and Kevin (wife, Sarah) Cornman, both of Newville, two sisters-in-law; Carolyn and Dessie Kough, both of Newville and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers; William, Kenneth and J. Earl Kough and two sisters; Elizabeth Brewbaker and Ethel Kough.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017 in the South Fairview First Church of God, 1212 Centerville Rd., Newville, PA 17241, with Rev. Harry Madison officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the services at the church. Private burial will be in the Newville Cemetery. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.
