Mabel M. Whistler, 94, of Carlisle, died Friday, December 17, 2010 at her home. She was born Wednesday, February 23, 1916, in Boslertown, and was the daughter of the late John W. and Ella M. (Greis) Chronister.

Mabel retired after forty years of service with the former Carlisle Shoe Company. She enjoyed sewing and working in her garden.

She is survived by her daughter, Wanda K. Waltimyer of Carlisle and several nieces and a nephew. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar H. Whistler, Sr. who passed away April 28, 1985 and two brothers; Frank and Clarence Chronister.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Kevin E. Dunlap officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
