M. Otilia McCarren, 98, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024, at UPMC Carlisle.  She was born on August 18, 1925, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island and was a daughter of the late Anthony Perry and Francisca (Pimental) Perry and was the widow of COL (Ret) Edwin J. McCarren, US Army, who died in 2000.

Otilia was a high school graduate and earned her Bachelors' degree from the University of Rhode Island.  She was a loving and devoted homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family.  Otilia attended St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle.

She is survived by five children, Carrol McCarren and husband Michael Sternad of Falls Church, VA, Edwin McCarren, Jr. and wife Deborah of Palm Coast, FL, Stephen McCarren and wife Cynthia of Newville, Gregory McCarren and wife Cynthia of Tryon, NC and Gary McCarren and wife Judith of Carlisle, one sister Mary Olga Williams of Newport, RI, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024, followed by a time of sharing at 3:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle.  The burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville on Thursday, May 30, 2024.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the Carlisle Ribbon Mill, 320 East Louther Street, Carlisle from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  www.EwingBrothers.com.
