Luetta J. Wickard, 93, of Newville, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at her home with family by her side. She was born on September 29, 1930, in Amberson, Franklin County and was a daughter of the late William C. Stake and Bessie L. (Coons) Stake. Luetta was the widow of R. Duane Wickard who passed away on January 25, 2004.
She and her late husband owned and operated the family dairy and agricultural farm for many years in Upper Frankford Twp. Luetta was a member of the Newville Assembly of God and Farm Women Group #18.
She is survived by five sons, Robert B. (Jane) Wickard of Carlisle, William D. Wickard of Newville, R. James (Sandy) Wickard of Dillsburg, Danny D. Wickard of Carlisle and R. David (Susan) Wickard of Newville, one daughter Vonda K. (Glenn) Kelso of Newville, one brother Kenneth Stake of Fayetteville, one sister Amelia Arndt of Shippensburg, 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Luetta was preceded in death by brothers Guy and William Stake, sisters, Clara Rowles, Zelda Stewart, Ruth Jumper and Pauline Farner and daughters-in-law, Carol A. Wickard and Corrine A. Wickard.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, in the Newville Assembly of God, 403 Oak Flat Rd, Newville, PA 17241. Rev Jeffrey Kettering will officiate the service. There will also be a viewing on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Upper Frankford Brick Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to her church. www.EwingBrothers.com.
