IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louis A.
Creeden
December 25, 1962 – November 4, 2023
Louis A. Creeden, beloved son and brother, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023.
Affectionately known as Louie, he was the youngest child of the late Dr. Paul and Mrs. Jeanne Creeden and was born on December 25, 1962. As befitting a Christmas baby, he brought tremendous joy and love to his family throughout his life.
Louie graduated from the Capital Area Intermediate Unit, South Middleton Township in 1984, then worked at the Wilson Pollock Center in Mechanicsburg. Louie loved his job at the Center and received multiple awards over the years for Best Employee and Perfect Attendance. Had there been an award for best dressed, he would have received that as well. He took great pride in his work attire and was always dressed for success with a dress shirt and tie. His career there spanned 30 years.
Louie had many interests that he enjoyed regularly. He participated in the Special Olympics and was awarded medals for swimming and ribbons in other events he entered. Louie was an amazing swimmer, taking to the water like a fish, whether it was a pool or the ocean. He would be in the water for hours, swimming laps or going back and forth parallel to the shore. He had no fear of the biggest waves, even impressing the lifeguards with his stamina. He was a prankster and loved to sneak up underwater to his loved ones and pinch them pretending it was a crab that did it, evoking a fit of laughter on his part. When he eventually came out of the water, he assisted the lifeguards by copying their whistle blowing and hand motions and giving them a thumbs up sign.
Louie loved to dance and frequently attended CPARC dances with his family and friends. Weddings were also a big hit with him as he could show off his singing ability as well as dance moves, outperforming everyone else. Never embarrassed or inhibited, it was heartwarming to see him having such a good time.
He also had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to watch the Three Stooges, imitating all of their jargon and using their antics on unsuspecting family and friends. He had a blast at a Three Stooges themed surprise 40th Birthday Party his cousin Mary Rehm and husband Dale and their family threw for him.
Louie's other passions included shopping and adding to his collection of wallets, sunglasses and hats. Such excursions often took hours, going to multiple stores to find the perfect one. There was no leaving empty handed, and if he was still undecided after all that time, he sometimes came home with two. He could be a firm negotiator! He loved playing basketball and shooting hoops in the side alley. Often he would go right out there upon getting off the bus from work, not coming in until dinner time.
Louie was predeceased by his parents and brother David. He is survived by his loving family: sister Elizabeth (Robert) Winkler of Vernon, Connecticut; brother Paul (Renee) of Fruita, Colorado; nieces Kristen (Michael) Madsen and Stacy (Marco) Aguiar; nephews Eric (Sasha) Creeden and Sean (Amanda) Creeden; great-nieces Grace and Emily Aguiar, and Evelyn Creeden, great-nephews Harvey and Warren Creeden. Louie is also survived by his Aunts Nancy Webster and Rita Lehmer, as well as many dear cousins and family friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Riverside Health and Rehab for their compassionate care and kindness provided to Louie in his time there and the dear friends and relatives who touched his life and brightened his days. To know Louie was to love him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 13 at St. Patrick Church, 87 Marsh Drive, Carlisle Pennsylvania. A viewing will be held at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home from 6 to 7 PM the night before. For condolences or directions, please visit their website at www.since1853.com.
In memory of Louie, we ask that you share a smile and spread joy to others you encounter in life. One of his favorite sayings was "Don't worry, be happy".
