Loretta L. (Sheriff) Zimmerman, 38, of Shippensburg, passed to eternal life after a six year courageous battle with cancer on Friday, May 6, 2011, at Chambersburg Hospital. She was born on Tuesday, May 1, 1973, in Carlisle, a daughter of Leroy D. and Arlene M. (Walker) Sheriff of Shippensburg.

Loretta was a 1991 graduate of Big Spring High School, Newville, and was most recently employed with H & H Chevrolet, Shippensburg and Martin's Bella Customs, Carlisle, where she was a car detailer. Loretta enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, camping, skiing and especially the time she was able to spend with her daughter and family. Loretta will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her loving parents, she is survived by one daughter, Kerstin N. Sheriff, at home, one brother, Leroy D. Sheriff, Jr. (and his wife, Kristie) of Shippensburg, two sisters; Lisa D. (and her husband, Andrew) DeGregorio of Newville and Vickie J. (and her husband, Brian) Mitsdarfer of Enola, two nieces; Alyssa DeGregorio and Brandy Ray, four nephews; Kyle and Hunter Sheriff, Adam DeGregorio and Gavin Mitsdarfer. Loretta also leaves behind her loving and devoted friend and companion of five years, Gregory R. Kutz of Shippensburg. Loretta was preceded in death by a brother, Steven C. Sheriff.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Rev. Dr. Vernon Gauthier officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Viewing will be held on Monday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kerstin N.
