Obituary

Levi F. Minnich, 81, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle. He was born on November 8, 1935 in Boiling Springs, and was the son of the late Floyd E. Minnich and Eva (Schmohl) Minnich Markley.

Levi served three years in the US Army as a US Army Paratrooper. Levi fought in the Korean War with Co. B BTRY 456th Airborne Field Artillery Battalion. He had worked for the former Piezo Crystal Co. in Carlisle. Levi retired from the Mechanicsburg Club in Mechanicsburg where he served as a bartender from 1984 until his retirement in 2000. He also bartended at the former TJ's Bar on West High Street in Carlisle. Levi was a former member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Carlisle Eagles. Levi enjoyed "cousin's night out", when once a month he and family members would go out to dinner.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Judy L. (Johnson) Minnich, two sons; Danny (wife, Barb) Minnich of Landisburg and Levi F. (wife, Patricia) Minnich, Jr. of Tacoma, WA, three step-sons; Earl M. Clark of York, Spencer L. (wife, Karen) Clark and James B. (wife, Penny) Clark, both of Carlisle, one sister, Marjorie Weary of Carlisle, 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one daughter, Karen Swarner.

A viewing will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2017 followed by funeral services at 3:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Roger Smith officiating.
