Leroy J. Negley, 76, of Newville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 20, 2017. He was born on December 13, 1940 in Carlisle, and was the son of the late Ralph E. and Evelyn A. (Nailor) Negley.

Leroy attended Big Spring High School. He served in the US Navy at the very beginning of the Vietnam War. Leroy was a truck driver most of his life and worked for 25 years with the former C. H. Masland & Sons and retired in 2004 from ABF Trucking, Carlisle after more than 10 years of service. Leroy attended the Cornerstone Chapel of Hope, Carlisle. He was a member of Carlisle Eagles and a life member of the Mt. Aetna Rescue Fire Co. # 1. He enjoyed camping, going on cruises, hunting and fishing. Leroy was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Fay D. (Gutshall) Negley, one son, William D. and wife Juanita K. Negley of Newville, one daughter, Sharon A. and husband Michael G. Heberlig of Newville, four sisters; Joan Logan, Janet Lentz and Dorothy Myers all of Newville and Nancy Hartzell of Carlisle, four grandchildren; David, James and Brian Negley and Ashley Kulp, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters; Betty Negley and Linda Wiser, one sister-in-law, Gladys Gutshall and one brother-in-law, Stanley Gutshall.

A viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 followed by funeral services at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Keith Gutshall and Pastor George Rockwell officiating. Burial with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
