Leonard J. "Lee" Seibel, 86, of Newville, passed away peacefully at home with his loved ones by his side on Monday, July 18, 2011. He was born on Friday, July 10, 1925, in Daisytown, a son of the late Harry and Margaret (Micsky) Seibel.
Lee was a United State Marine Corps veteran of WWII, and served in Guam and Iwo Jima. He began his work career as a heavy equipment mechanic and retired in 1980 as a Regional Customer Service Manager with the former State Equipment Corporation in Harrisburg. He was an avid reader, hunter, golfer, car enthusiast and family man. Lee was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Evelyn J. (Stear) Seibel, two sons; Gary Lee (and his wife, Catherine) Seibel of Newville and Gregory Alan (and his wife, Colleen) Seibel of Shippensburg, his grandchildren; Garrett Lee Seibel, Heather Ann Seibel Schwartzmiller, Carlee Lynn Seibel, Evan A. Stone and Elizabeth A. Stone as well as a large and loving extended family. Lee was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Seibel.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, On the Square in Carlisle with Elder Deborah A. Madden officiating. Burial with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Viewing will be held on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 2A N. Hanover St., Carlisle or to The Salvation Army, 20 E. Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
