June 11, 1932 – November 20, 2024
Lawrence E. Morris, Sr., 92, of Carlisle, died on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, Harrisburg. He was born on June 11, 1932, in Carlisle and was a son of the late George Morris, Sr. and Mary (Failor) Morris. Lawrence was married to the late Lotus "Lottie" Lorraine (Armold) Morris who passed away on March 22, 2023.
Larry graduated from Carlisle High School and shortly after joined the U. S. Navy in 1951. He served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. He was a truck driver most of his life and spent more than 20 years driving for Hall's Furniture and finished driving after many years of service with the former Dauphin Oil Company in Carlisle where he drove an oil delivery truck. Larry was a member and Past President of Eagles Aerie 1299, a member of the Carlisle American Legion Post 101 and member of the Carlisle Club. He enjoyed being with his family, watching the cowboys football team and old westerns.
He is survived two sons, Barry L. Morris of Carlisle and Lawrence E. Morris, Jr. and his wife Laura of Mechanicsburg, one daughter Brenda L. Hall and her husband Randy of Mt. Holly Springs, three grandchildren, Brandon (wife Christine) Morris, Brandi (husband Kyle) Deamer and Jesse (wife Kasey) Hall, one great-grandson Clayton Deamer and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by fourteen siblings.
A viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Bob Wahls as the officiant. The burial with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Larry's name may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110. www.Since1853.com.
