IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kurt A.
Mullen
January 29, 1964 – May 8, 2025
Kurt A. Mullen, 61, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 8, 2025. He was born on January 29, 1964, in Carlisle and was a son of the late Donald W. Mullen and Gloria L. (Bower) Mullen.
Kurt was raised in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Carlisle, and graduated from Boiling Springs High School in 1982. He worked on the family farm during his childhood and teenage years. Shortly after high school graduation Kurt joined the United States Air Force. He was appointed Sergeant on August 1, 1986, and continued his service and was honorably discharged on July 15, 1990. Sgt. Mullen was awarded The Air Force Commendation Medal on November 12, 1986. During his military service Kurt specialized in Fire and Paramedic Services and was recognized for being the first on the scene and taking the necessary actions to save a man's life on base that was suffering from convulsions.
After his discharge Kurt returned home to work with his father in Mullen's Towing & Recovery located at the Gulf Service Station just south of the Route 81 bridge crossing South Hanover Street. At this location Kurt began his Landscaping Supply business featuring multiple grades and colors of tanbark, mushroom soil, and topsoil. After his father's death in 2009, Kurt continued to operate both businesses. He sold the property in 2023 where a new 7-11 Store was constructed. Prior to selling the property Kurt moved both businesses further south on Route 34 and continued working until one week prior to his death.
In 2016, Kurt began his journey to make his dream of owning and operating a horse boarding stable come true. He was the principal designer, and Kurt left no detail untouched for the care of the horses. Kurt's home and business facilities were also a refuge for his many feline friends. He spared nothing for the care of his animals and was enthusiastic about the care and production of his hay fields. Kurt will be missed by many in the community for the services he offered for more than 35 years.
He is survived by two brothers, Keith and Kevin Mullen both of Carlisle and one sister Kate Mullen also of Carlisle, two nieces, Delaney and Kennedy Mullen and one nephew Nicholas Mullen.
Services will be announced at a later date. www.EwingBrothers.com.
