Kuniko S. Johnston, 94, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Thornwald Home in Carlisle.  She was born on March 17, 1928, in Nagasaki, Japan and was a daughter of the late Kaname Shiraishi and Sawa (Yamada) Shiraishi.  She was the widow of CSM (Ret) Ferdinand Johnston, US Army, who died February 22, 1995.

Kuniko graduated high school and attended college in Japan.  She had worked at the former Piezo Crystal Co., Carlisle.  She was a devoted homemaker and wife.  Kuniko was of Buddhist faith.

She is survived by one son Lee Johnston and his companion Dee Lebo of Boiling Springs, one daughter Barbara Watkins of Morehead City, NC, three grandchildren Brittany Watkins of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Bonnie D'Antonio and her husband Nick of Morehead City, NC and Brian Watkins of McLean, VA and extended family members in Japan.

Services will be private in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle and in Japan.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle is in charge of the arrangements.
