Obituary

Kermit S. Moyer, 67, of Carlisle, died on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. He was born on Monday, May 29, 1944, in Sellersville, a son of the late Samuel H. and Irene B. (Smith) Moyer.

He was a 1962 graduate of Souderton High School and in 1968 received his bachelor's degree in Agronomy from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown. Kermit then served in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1973. He worked 22 years with the U.S.D.A. Farmers Home Administration in various parts of PA, where he was a County Supervisor. He was a member of the Carlisle Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. During his school years, Kermit wrestled three years with the high school team and three years at the collegiate level. He enjoyed gardening, camping and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of30 years, Rosalie (McGowan) Moyer, one son, Kermit W. Moyer of Mt. Sterling, KY, one daughter, Lisa R. Gentry of Mechanicsburg, two brothers, Dale E. Moyer of Ft. Bragg, CA and Bruce H. Moyer of Souderton, two step-daughters; Dawn M. Cook of Mifflintown and Eileen M. Fraker of Dillsburg, 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at 8 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Ed Dorsey officiating. Private burial will be in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. A viewing will be on Tuesday from 6 p.m. until time of the services.
