Kenneth "Ken" Sollenberger, 78, of Newville, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at UPMC Carlisle. He was born on May 26, 1947, in Carlisle and was a son of the late Floyd Sollenberger and Pauline (Mountz) Sollenberger.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Joann "Jo" (Palmer) Sollenberger, three daughters, Kimberly (David) Baldwin, Tammy (Shane) Ege and Deborah (Jacob) Curtis, one brother Rev. Floyd (Cindy) Sollenberger, two sisters, Sandra Aby and Betty Keller and five very special grandchildren, Olivia and Connor Baldwin, Tason Ege and Hendrix and Savannah Curtis. He was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, William Aby and Gene Keller.
Ken retired from Carlisle Tire & Wheel Co. after more than 40 years of service. He served his country through the Army Reserves. Ken was a life-time member of St. Mary's United Methodist Church which he served faithfully as a trustee and youth leader. He played on the church softball team for many years, usually as a pitcher. He was on a bowling team for many years and loved NASCAR and any type of racing.
Ken loved all sports and was an avid Penn State fan. He was an expert hunter with both a rifle and bow. He loved to travel and see new things. He enjoyed people and could engage strangers into conversations. He also had a great love for animals, but his greatest love was for his family and friends and most important Ken loved his Lord.
A viewing will begin at 12:00 noon on Friday, November 14, 2025, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Mary's United Methodist Church, 4133 Enola Road in Bloserville. Pastor Jimmy Kincaid and Rev. Floyd Sollenberger will officiate the service. The burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A celebration of life reception will be held at St. Mary's United Methodist Church following the burial. Memorial contributions may be made to his church at 4133 Enola Road, Newville, PA 17241.
