Kenneth W. Fahnestock, 68, of Newville and formerly of Carlisle, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born Monday, February 7, 1944, in Carlisle, a son of the late Charles E., Sr. and Alice I. (Weiggle) Fahnestock. He was married to the late Nancy Lee (Mowery) Fahnestock, who died Nov. 16, 1993, who was the love of his life.
Ken was a jack-of-all-trades. His most recent employment was with the Harrisburg Auto Auction in Mechanicsburg, where he was a mechanic and retired in 2010. He enjoyed his work, but his health prevented him from continuing. Ken was a member of Dillsburg Assembly of God and avid Redskin fan. What brought him the most joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his companion, Mary Buttler of Newville, three sons; Joseph A. Stimeling and wife, Peggy of Carlisle, Kirk D. Stimeling of Carlisle and Jeffrey A. Fahnestock and wife, Michelle of Gardners, three daughters; Vickie L. McGuire and husband, Ron of Carlisle, Pamela L. McGuire and husband, Leonard of Carlisle and Tonya L. Schlosser and husband, Don of Mechanicsburg, one brother, Raymond Fahnestock of Gardners, four sisters; Evelyn Whitzel of Carlisle, Nancy Lawson of Newville, Connie Moffitt of PA and Martha Fahnestock of Carlisle, 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his loving cat "Patches". Ken was preceded in death by three brothers; Charles E., Jr., Gary R. and James L. Fahnestock.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at 10 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Steven Spuller officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. A viewing will be on Monday from 6 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Dillsburg Assembly of God, 101 Beaver St., Dillsburg, PA 17019.
