Kenneth S. Allen, 71, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at UPMC Carlisle. He was born on November 9, 1952, in the Bronx, New York and was the son of the late John Kenneth Allen and Anna Jean (Elliott) Allen.
Kenny graduated from Raritan High School in Hazlet, New Jersey and earned his bachelor's degree from Trenton State College. Ken was an ordained minister having earned is Master of Divinity from Evangelical Theological Seminary. He also held a master's degree in small groups ministry from Lancaster Bible College and was a published author. He was a brazing engineer and retired from Bellman-Melcor Inc., Tinley Park, IL after many years of service. Ken had many interests, among them were muscle cars, motorcycles, tennis, golf, guitar and singing praise and worship music, and watching the Yankees and Michigan football.
Kenny's first love was for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His heart's desire was to love and serve the Lord here on Earth, and then enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, his true Home, to worship the Lord for eternity.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 22 years, Elizabeth (Whitesel) Allen, two sons, Johnathan (Lina) Allen of Camp Hill and David (Alison) Allen of Clarkston, MI, and two daughters, Rachel (Rick) Allen, and Sarah Allen of Camp Hill. Ken is also survived by two stepsons, Benjamin (Lindsey) Mengle of Mechanicsburg and Forrest (Lexie) Mengle of Camp Hill, one stepdaughter Cera (Matt) Knaby of Boalsburg, one brother John "Pete" Allen of Middletown, NJ, two sisters Judith Menendez of Galloway, NJ, and Ann Michele Kret of Hazlet NJ, as well as 11 grandchildren and his mother-in-law, Ann Whitesel of Carlisle. He was preceded in death by one brother, Douglas Allen.
A celebration of life service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1a North Hanover St, Carlisle, PA 17013, with The Reverend Doctor Richard A. Whitesel officiating. Inurnment will be in the St. John's Chapel of the Good Shepherd Columbarium. A time of fellowship will follow the service in the church parish hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
