Obituary

Kathleen Jean (Pennypacker) Mehosky, of Harrisburg, sister to Anne Keiser of Carlisle, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, in Carlisle, PA. Born March 26, 1949, in Pottstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. Pennypacker, Jr., and Kathryn Mae (Nester) Pennypacker of Douglassville, PA.  She graduated from Daniel Boone High School, Birdsboro, PA, with the class of 1967.

Kathy retired from the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania after 34 years as an administrative assistant. She came to the mid-state in 1985 to be near family after working during her marriage as civilian support in logistics at military installations in Virginia, Illinois, and Bremerhaven, Germany.

A passionate animal lover, especially for her beloved cats, Kathy was a devoted supporter of charities, local and global, which were dedicated to conservation and humane treatment. She did not have a religious affiliation but lived the "Sunday-school values" learned early on, which led her to be a proud and involved Progressive and to give kindly and generously to help others.  She was an avid sports fan, loyal always to her Atlanta Braves, and in her younger years was an enthusiastic and good-naturedly competitive(within the family) angler. She most enjoyed spending time with her extended family, especially her siblings, her niece Jordan and nephew Dan and their children, Beckham and Holden, and her cousin Will and his family. She was looking forward to meeting new great-nephew Easton. Geographical distance did not keep Kathy from maintaining, via modern technology, the family ties and favorite traditions, especially at the holidays, which were so important to her.

Kathy is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Terry Keiser of Carlisle, PA; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Shelley Pennypacker of Stella, NC; niece Jordan Pennypacker and Zach Wuebben and children, Beckham and Easton; nephew Daniel Pennypacker and his wife, Casey, and daughter, Holden. Also surviving are cousin William Bitler and his wife Debra and their children.

Celebration of Kathy's life will be private. Donations in memory and honor of Kathleen may be made to Furry Friends Network, online or at P.O.Box 519, Boiling Springs, PA 17007. www.EwingBrothers.com
