Obituary

Julia Mary Shellehamer Myers, 101 of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Thornwald Home, Carlisle. She was born on February 16, 1914 in Carlisle, and was married for 66 years to the late Jerauld R. Myers, who died May 12, 2005.

Julia was a member of the Carlisle High School Class of 1932. She was a loving wife and mother who excelled at cooking and baking. She enjoyed preparing and serving meals for her family and friends, which she often shared with her neighbors at Strawberry Court. Julia's life was devoted to serving God, her church, and her family. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for 50 years and also taught Bible School. Julia was a member of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and had served as a Circle Leader and helped with the Lenten Luncheons. She was a member of the Anna Kugler Sunday School Class and helped bake pies for their sales. She also helped serve wedding receptions at the church.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Sylvia C. (husband, Stephen) Smith of Carlisle, two grandsons; Phillip C. Myers II and Ian O. (wife, Jessica) Smith, one granddaughter, Jennifer Smith (husband, Michael) Steiner, two great-grandsons; Maxim M. Steiner and Owen O. Smith, two great-granddaughters; Chloe D. Steiner and Julia W. Steiner and one daughter-in-law, Phyllis H. Myers of Carlisle. Julia was predeceased by one son, Phillip C. Myers, who died Oct 8, 1999 and one grandson, Rodney A. Myers, who died Nov 11, 2002.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Louther St, Carlisle, with Pastor Robert Moore and Pastor Steven Godsall-Myersofficiating. A visitation will be held Tuesday at the church from 10 - 11:00 a. m. Interment will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial donations in Julia's name may be made to her church.
