Josephine R. Hoover, 85, of Newville, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2010, in the Forest Park Health Center in Carlisle. She was born on Saturday, July 19, 1924, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Keller H. and Anna M. (Hinkle) Fanus.

Josephine retired after many years of service with the former Carlisle Tire and Rubber Co. She attended the McClure's Gap Church of God in Newville. Josephine enjoyed being a homemaker and she loved her dogs. She was preceded in death by brothers; Russell, Gene and Leon Fanus and sisters; Eltina Chronister and Ruth Cornman.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Oscar W. Hoover, one sister, Shirley A. Weibley of York Springs and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, in the McClure's Gap Church of God, 130 Church of God Rd., Newville, with Rev. Robert Stauffer and Rev. Paul Hauk officiating. Burial will be in Upper Frankford Brick Church Cemetery, Newville. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 6 - 8:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
