Joseph L. Osenkarski, 68, of Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2010 in his home. He was born on Saturday, November 29, 1941 in Duryea and was a son of the late Stanley W. And Mary V. (Budavich) Osenkarski. He was also predeceased by a brother, Stanley W. Osenkarski, Jr.
He was a 1959 graduate of Duryea High School, where he was class president and was a 1964 graduate of Penn State University, earning both bachelors and masters degrees in rehabilitation services in education. He was a member of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity and was a member of the National Guard. Joseph retired as chief juvenile probation officer for Cumberland County after serving 39 years. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning pickles and tomatoes and wild mushroom hunting.
Joseph is survived by his loving and devoted daughters, Diane J. (and her husband, Gerald L., Jr.) Crispino of Carlisle and Michele M. (and her husband, Michael H.) Mellott of Limestone, his companion, Beverly L. Gilbert of Newville, a sister, Anne Clayton of Winston-Salem, NC, a brother, John Osen of Chambersburg, five grandchildren; Adam M. Mellott and Abigail D. Mellott, Gerald L. Crispino, III, Ridge D. Crispino and Skylar Paige Jo Crispino and several nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all of his friends and loved ones.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010 in St. Patrick Shrine Church, 140 E. Pomfret St., Carlisle, with Father William C. Forrey as celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or to a charity of one's choice.
