Jose H. Ramos, Sr., 99, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at ProMedica in Carlisle.  He was born on May 14, 1923, in La Paz, Mexico and was a son of the late Ricardo L. Ramos and Amelia (Hernendez) Ramos.

Jose served in the US Army during WWII and was awarded several medals including one Bronze Star.  Jose retired from the Penn Linen Co. of Allentown after 21 years of service as a truck driver.  He then worked five years at a transmission repair shop in Harrisburg.  Jose was a life member of V.F.W. Post 142 in Harrisburg.

He is survived by one son, Carlos G. (wife Nola) Ramos of Carlisle and was the brother to Carlos, Richard, Gilbert, Rueben, Eleanor, Dora, and Amelia.  He is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn (Fuller) Ramos, two daughters, Amelia Strohecker and Cassandra Kay Rohrer and one son Joseph Ramos, Jr.

Private entombment will be held at Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill with Rev. Richard Reese officiating.  Cumberland County Honor Guard will provide military honors at the cemetery.
