John E. Stone Sr. was born August 26, 1935 and entered into eternal rest Palm Sunday, April 9, 2017. Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not. John was the loving husband to Virginia, father to Jacqueline and John Jr, grandfather to Amber, Journey, Jordan, Justice, Jade, Sydney, Paige, Jackson, Carlie, Gabby & Luke and a great-grandfather. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and retired as the caretaker from and was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Carlisle. He was the son of Lester and Lillian Stone, brother to Lester, Bruce, Russel, Mildred, Elmer, Chester, Ruth, Edna, and Helen.

2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith."

A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Good Friday, April 14 followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. The family respectfully requests donations to the Disabled American Veterans or American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
