John R. Scott, 71, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill. He was born on June 19, 1955, in Mechanicsburg, to the late Richard and Faye (Shaeffer) Scott.

John Graduated with the class of 1974 from Cumberland Valley High School. After completing votech training he started his lifelong journey as an auto mechanic.

John is survived by his loving wife Janice (Failor) Scott, his son Jason (his wife Crystal) Barnhart, two grandsons, Joshua Barnhart and Tyler Heinbaugh, two granddaughters, Misty McGill and Shadeaux Gaver, eight great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, one brother Michael Scott, one sister Debra Peebles, and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026, followed by a celebration of life at 7:00 p.m. at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Pastor Richard Reese officiating. www.EwingBrothers.com
