John L. Porter, 61, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 12, 1956 in Carlisle, and is a son of Peggy (Rose) Porter of Newville and the late Stewart Porter, Sr.

John was currently working for Lane Enterprises in Carlisle. He was a member of the Carlisle White Circle Club.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Diane K. (Hefelfinger) Porter, one son, John L. Porter, one daughter, Lindsey Jo Porter of Carlisle, two step-sons; Dale R. Bailey, Jr. of Carlisle and Lucas M. Enbacher of Gardners, one step-daughter, Kellijo Bailey of Gardners, two brothers; Stewart Porter, Jr. of Carlisle and Dennis Porter of Newville, one sister, Sherry Ellis of Aspers, 3 grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Steven Porter.

A visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev.
