John Harry "Sonny" Jakomas, 75, of North Myrtle Beach, SC and formerly of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at his daughter's home in Penn Twp., Newville. He was born on Feb. 5, 1938, inMcKeesport, a son of the late Gust and Mary (Kunicky) Jakomas, and was married for 34 years to the late Charlotte Ann (Hall) Adams Jakomas, who died September 6, 2009.

John graduated from McKeesport High School and served two years in the US Army. He retired from AMP, Inc. after 35 years of service and also worked at the Army Heritage Golf Course, both of Carlisle. John was a life member of the Carlisle Eagles and amember of the Carlisle Elks Lodge. John loved to play golf and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by his loving and devoted family, which includes two sons; Donald "Mooch" Adams, Jr. and John "John Boy" Jakomas, both of Carlisle, five daughters; Debra (John) Yeager of State College, Sue (Brent) Malcolm of Carlisle, Christine (Rick) Erickson of Mechanicsburg, Belinda (Robert) Ewing of Newville and Lisa Jakomas Konar of Delaware, two sisters; Jackie (Jack) Bennet and Janice Korposh and one brother, Jimmy (Georgette) Jakomas, all of Pittsburgh, 12 grandchildren; Erick, Tara, Nicole, Elizabeth, Frank, Amanda, Sara, Mary, Rebekah, Megan, Sky and AJ and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews including two special nieces; LaShawn Hall and Justine Kennedy.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Tim Wheeler officiating. A visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of services on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
