John E. Grimes, 71, of Newville, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at C.R.M.C. He was born on June 28, 1945 in Carlisle, and was a son of the late Genevieve (Grimes) Sheibley and Harold Sheibley.

John served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and worked as a roofer most of his life. John enjoyed camping and sprint car racing.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Mary L. (Jumper) Grimes, two daughters; Pamela (husband, Tony) Rowe of Carlisle and Jennifer Grimes of Newville, one son, John E. "JJ" (wife, Julie) Grimes, Jr. of Mt. Holly Springs, one brother, David Grimes of Carlisle, one sister, Sharon Goshorn of Mt. Holly Springs, six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St, Carlisle, with Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. Burial with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
