John T. Conaway, 51, of Newville, passed away suddenly from a heart attack on Monday, February 15, 2010, in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born on Sunday, July 20, 1958, in Olney, Maryland, and is the son of Joan (Clark) Conaway of Newville and the late Clifton D. Conaway.

John graduated in 1976 from Glenelg High School in Glenegle, MD. Since 1993, he and his wife have continued the family business of owning and operating Pine Haven Christmas Tree and Livestock Farm in Newville, which was established in 1965. John also raised and sold livestock, and was currently an officer of the PA Suffolk Sheep Assoc. and a National Director of the United Suffolk Sheep Association. He was an active supporter of 4-H and FFA Judging and Youth Programs. He was a member of the Cold Springs Hunting Club and Dickinson Presbyterian Church both of Carlisle.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Dianne (Eberts) Conaway, a son, Shane M. (and his wife, Emily) Conaway of Newville, one granddaughter, Alexis D. Conaway his father-in-law, E. Richard Eberts of Waynesboro and two sisters-in-law; Jane Eberts of Carlisle and Betsy Eberts, Vero Beach, FL.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2010, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Jeanette E. Mater officiating. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of the services at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends immediately following the services on Sunday at the Carlisle Y.W.C.A. for a time of fellowship and refreshments. Burial will be in Dickinson Presbyterian Church Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
