John Mourer Bixler (94)

Beloved Husband and Father passed away on Friday, June 17 ^th .   John is survived by 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.   He was born and raised in Washington, DC.  He lived in Bethesda, MD from 1955 to 2018 when he moved to Carlisle, PA.  John practiced estate and tax law in Washington, DC for 63 years.  He was a Graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (1948), Wharton School of Business (1949), and Harvard Law School (1954).

John was a distinguished member of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants; The American Bar Association, The American College of Trust and Estate Council (ACTEC) where he served as a Regent.

John M. Bixler was selected to Super Lawyers for the period 2007 - 2016. The Super Lawyers peer designation is awarded only to a select number of accomplished attorneys in each state. The Super Lawyers selection process takes into account peer recognition, professional achievement in legal practice, and other cogent factors.

John was also a member of The Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin; A trustee on the Board of  the Methodist Home in Washington D.C;  A trustee of Concord-Saint Andrews Methodist Church, as well as Treasurer for a time.

A memorial Service will be held at Noon on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Concord-St. Andrews UMC, 5910 Goldsboro Rd., Bethesda MD 20817.  A reception will follow service.  In lieu of flowers donations may be mailed to the CSA Trustees Foundation at the church address.  www.EwingBrothers.com.
