John E. Andrews, Jr., 87, of North Port, FL and formerly of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2019 in Florida.  He was born on August 15, 1932 in Carlisle and was the son of the late John E. Andrews and Minnie (Nailor) Andrews.  John was married for 56 years to the late Betty Stickel Andrews, who passed away on March 28, 2012

John graduated in 1950 from Carlisle High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War.  He retired after 43 years of service with Amp Inc., Carlisle.  John and his late wife operated the former Carlisle Memorial Services for 15 years on Bedford Street in Carlisle.  He is a member of Edgewater United Methodist Church in Florida, was a former member of the Middlesex United Methodist Church and attended Waggoner's United Methodist Church both of Carlisle.  John was a longtime member of the former Cumberland Star 197 Masonic Lodge, Carlisle and the Harrisburg Consistory.

He is survived by one daughter with whom he lived, Krista Andrews Uplinger and her husband, Randal W. Uplinger and one sister, Jaclyn Mountz of Carlisle.  John was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Sue Andrews.

A visitation will begin at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 31, 2019 followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm. in the Middlesex United Methodist Church, 118 N Middlesex Rd., Carlisle, PA 17013 with Pastor Rachel Wong and Pastor Randall Zook officiating.  Burial will be private at Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle.   Ewing Brothers Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to Edgewater United Methodist Church 19190 Cochran Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33948 or to the Middlesex U.
