Joanne Laviska Slusser, 78, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on August 31, 2025. Born on June 9, 1947, in New Hanover County, North Carolina, Joanne was fiercely independent, yet a compassionate nurturer, that was always there when you needed her for support, wisdom or love.

Joanne's greatest joys came from spending time with her family, walking on the beach collecting shells or having a serving of ice cream.  Her cookies were always a special treat that both family and friends looked forward to during visits.  If you weren't close enough for a visit, expect to receive the best cards for every birthday, anniversary or holiday.

Joanne is survived by her children, Heather, Michael (Kelly), grandson Brayden, sister Mary, brother Jimmy (Ead), and many nieces and nephews.
