Joan A. Motter, 82, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at her home. She was born on July 15, 1934 in Harrisburg, and was the daughter of the late Dr. Julius H. Anderson, MD and Dorothy J. (Smith) Anderson. She was the widow of Charles A. Motter, who died December 6, 1996.

Joan was a 1952 graduate of the John Harris High School in Harrisburg. Joan retired after more than 30 years of service with Andersen Logistics, Carlisle. She was a member of the Christian Life Community Church, Newville.

She is survived by one brother, Dr. Julius H. (wife, Rosalind) Anderson, Jr., MD of Pomfret, VT, two step-sons; Wayne and Galen Motter, both of Carlisle, several step-grandchildren, nephews and other extended family members. She was predeceased by one step-son, Paul Dean Motter and one step-daughter, Patricia Beittel.

A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in the Christian Life Community Church, 3151 Ritner Highway, Newville, with Rev. Steve Gibb officiating. A time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at the church. Private burial will be at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
