Jo Petre, 87, of Carlisle, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from Harrisburg Hospital. She was born on January 17, 1930 in Letterkenny Twp., Franklin County, and was the daughter of the late John Leonard Locke and Esther (Wyant) Locke Keefer. Jo was married to the late Lt. Col. (Ret) Frank M. Petre, Jr., PA National Guard, who passed away on June 5, 2008.

Jo was a 1948 graduate of Chambersburg High School. She was a loving and devoted homemaker, and had also worked many years with the Letterkenny Army Depot and the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot. She was a faithful member of First United Church of Christ, Carlisle, where she served in many ministries. She volunteered faithfully with Samaritan Fellowship. Jo loved spending time with her family and was a true servant throughout her life to those who were in need.

Jo is survived by two sons; Dana K. Holstay of Mechanicsburg and Daryl K. (wife, Tanya) Holstay, Sr. of Dillsburg, two step-sons; Frank M. (wife, Ann) Petre, III of Carlisle and Patrick A. (wife, Jane) Petre of Arcadia, CA, four grandchildren; Jenniffer Conrad, Jessica Rhen, Sarah Beissel and Specialist Daryl Holstay, Jr., US Army Reserve, two step-grandchildren; Alexandria Needels and Frank M. Petre, IV, one niece, Connie Norberg and one nephew, Allen Ausherman. She was predeceased by one son, Douglas K. Holstay and a half-brother, Glenn Keefer.

A visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017 followed by funeral services at 5:00 p.m. in the First United Church of Christ, 30 N. Pitt St., Carlisle, with Rev. Rachel H. Schwab officiating. Immediately following the services there will be a time of fellowship at the church. Burial will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
